Hemyock Summer Fair
Photos
‘An event that must be
repeated’ was on everyone’s lips following the great success of a
Summer Fair organised by St Mary’s church, Hemyock.
A sunny but at times very
blustery day (which saw a gazebo go flying) attracted visitors to
the event which was held in the Recreation Field from 11 -4pm and
raised approx £1,700 for church funds.
Opened by Tony Soley, Chairman,
Apple A.M. a variety of entertainment was supplied throughout the
day with Apple A.M. (Taunton Hospital Radio) providing music and
live interviews.
Dancing displays were given by
Hemyock Sequence Dancers and children from the local primary
school with East Devon Junior Orchestra under conductor Dan Morgan
providing an exciting concert as they shared their expertise with
their audience.
Many children were fascinated
by, and enjoyed making rope with the local Scout Group as well as
taking part in races and a poetry competition which was won by 7
year old Cheyenne Jordan.
A raffle for a food hamper
supplied by Spar Hemyock was won by Mrs Rosa Sloman with Mrs Joan
Lawrence winning a 5 day holiday in Cornwall courtesy of Redwoods
Travel.
Hot food was supplied and
served by Kittow Cattle Ltd runners up in the recent Farming
Family of the Year competition with church members serving cream
teas and manning a licensed refreshment tent.
Amongst a host of local stalls
were a number of visiting organisations including St Margaret’s
(Somerset) Hospice, Little Bridge House Children’s Hospice and
South West Water.
The organising committee of 3
would like to thank all who contributed in anyway to the highly
enjoyable and successful day with a special thanks to the Scout
Group who helped throughout.
If you or your organisation
